NEUROFEEDBACK
Neurofeedback is also known as EEG Biofeedback. It is a completely non-invasive, scientifically researched, brain-based therapy designed to create real and lasting results for patients with a variety of neurological issues. Harnessing the natural capacity of the brain to change over time (neuroplasticity), it is a learning modality designed to retrain dysregulated brainwave patterns.

RECLAIM YOUR POWER
The goal of neurofeedback therapy is to transform unhealthy dysregulated brainwaves into a normal, healthy and organized pattern. Through this guided exercise, the brain becomes more stable and is able to operate optimally and more efficiently. Neurofeedback reduces dysregulated and unhealthy connections by using the ability of your brain to change over time and make new healthy connections (neuroplasticity). The FDA considers it safe, acknowledging that it has never produced a serious side-effect since it was first discovered for clinical use over 40 years ago.
The role of neuroplasticity is widely recognized as a part of healthy development, learning, memory, and recovery from brain damage. Neuroplastic changes can range from small cellular changes to large-scale changes involved in cortical remapping in response to injury. Further, studies have shown that operant conditioning provided by neurofeedback training has led to symptom reduction for those with ADHD, anxiety, depression and insomnia as well as helping facilitate the ability to attain personal peak performance.
TREATMENT DESIGN
The typical patient will receive the actual feedback in the form of a game, movie or sound. Sensors will be placed on the designated training site on your scalp recording your brainwaves. The software automatically detects when your brainwaves are properly ordered and signals that information back to you in real-time.
In this treatment design, your ability to watch or listen to the selected media is controlled by your ability to regulate your brainwaves. For example, a movie will get brighter as your brainwaves normalize and become darker during moments of dysregulation. Your brain’s natural desire to watch the movie will drive those neurological circuits to normalize allowing the picture to be displayed optimally. We increase the opportunity for those lasting neuroplastic changes to occur.
HOW DO I START
HOW DO I START
In order to customize the best training protocol to address your specific needs, a comprehensive assessment called a QEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalography) will be performed. This assessment procedure allows the doctor to objectively determine whether your brainwave patterns are dysregulated and provides insight into symptoms and issues you may be experiencing.
Our goal is to work with you, creating a unique program in consideration of your goals, health history, and results of the QEEG. During your report of findings, we will explain the results of your QEEG in a way that is easy to understand. You are encouraged to ask any questions that you may have as we outline your proposal for care. If dysregulation and imbalance is found in your QEEG, neurofeedback sessions will begin so that you can reclaim your power and thrive.
